If you’re like me and rely on coffee to function, you may start to notice the downsides of drinking several cups a day. Instead try green tea, it can help with many problems that coffee and energy drinks can cause while having other benefits as well.
I get extremely dehydrated throughout the day if I don’t drink equal amounts of water. Green tea, like any tea, hydrates your body so you can stay awake and hydrated. When it’s hot outside I prefer to have iced green tea instead of iced coffee.
Perfect Amount of Caffeine
Even though green tea doesn’t have as much caffeine as a cup of coffee – 8oz. coffee has 95-200 milligrams (mg) while green tea has 24-45 mg – it’s enough to get the tiredness away.
Having many cups of coffee or energy drinks can make you jittery and unable to sit still. If I need to focus but feel like a cup or can is too much, a green tea is the perfect solution.
Caffeine and EGCG also tells your body to burn fat. So, when you drink it the fat cell breaks down more fat then sends it into your bloodstream to use for energy.
Don’t expect to just sip green tea and lose major lbs though, but many studies suggest that it helps compared to people who don’t.
Boost Your Immune System
It contains the antioxidant Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG), which has been said to treat diseases like osteoporosis, diabetes and can even help combat allergies. EGCG also has even been proven to help with pancreatic cancer and, more recently, oral cancer.
Don’t try to drink green tea instead of taking daily vitamins, but with consistently drinking it your immune system can become stronger.

Clears Up Skin
Green tea can help you fight off those pesky pimples by reducing inflammation and sebum (oil). EGCG also helps with hormones, and can combat the ones that make you break out. It even helps keep insulin levels in check, which can also help with acne.
Some spas and beauty supplies even have green tea masks. Depending on the person drinking or applying it may give different results, so try both!
An amino acid called theanine is also found in green tea. Theanine increases levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), serotonin, dopamine and alpha wave activity that helps your body relax.
Having a cup before bed can help you go to sleep or relax after a long day.
Note: This is for green tea without caffeine such as: Sleepy Time, chamomile, spearmint and verbena.
Thats right. All of these benefits come with no extra calories. Just remember adding sugar, syrups, and other things to the green tea it diminish the value of it.
