While the school paper keeps you up-to-date on all campus goings-on and how student government is spending your money, those that still print have yet to realize that they’re failing to address one question: What do I do with the paper once I’m done reading?
While being green and tossing it in a recycling bin is always an option, we came up with some more creative alternative uses:
1. Nail Art
Stay stylish with this artsy look.
Florida residents know what it’s like to get caught in the rain with no cover near and without an umbrella – it happens all too often. Just open your school paper to the center spread and enjoy some halfway decent coverage.
3. Toilet Paper
Look, we understand that the college budget is tight, and you gotta do what you gotta do. Just beware of paper cuts in unwanted places.
4. Cup Sleeve
Any coffee joint on campus sees hundreds of students a day, and it’s no surprise when they run out of sleeves for your hot beverage. Just tear off the back page and fold it hotdog style a few times. Wrap it around your mug and keep your hand safe!
5. Picture Frame
DIYs are fun! Have a rustic style dorm room? Break out that elementary school origami and make yourself a picture frame.
6. Gift Wrap
Give your smaller presents a warm, organic feel and use the paper as gift wrap. You can even choose to feature certain pictures.
7. Dorm Decor
Love a picture that you see? Cut it out and use it to decorate your dorm.
8. Book Cover
Replacing rentals can be expensive. If you want to keep that book protected, make a book cover with your paper’s center spread. It’s similar to making one out of a paper bag.
9. Packing Material
Don’t waste money on bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Just scrunch up the paper around any fragile cargo.
If you’re looking to clean up your dorm, ditch the paper towels and use Windex with newspaper. It’s known for leaving zero smudges on glass surfaces.
