“This is probably the highest quality cup of coffee you’ll drink in South Florida,” said former The Seed & SwitchBox barista, Troy Nishizaki, as we met up for coffee that morning. How true it became as I took my first sip.
SwitchBox Coffee Roasters is a new coffee shop that graced our South Floridian neighborhoods in early July, and has quickly gained themselves a loyal following. Priding themselves on their high quality, “green” coffee sourced from farmers and strategic broker partnerships, SwitchBox aims to find the “sweet spot” of each roast to bring you one of the most delicious cups of coffee ever.
To start, they have a simple menu. But in many ways it’s the simplicity that makes it truly sophisticated. From the basic espresso drinks and cold brew to the new-age methods like aeropress and kelits, every drink is made with special caution and care.
Of course, everyone’s first question is “How much will it kill my wallet?” Have no fear. For the quality of their coffee, SwitchBox puts forth reasonable pricing compared to other local single-origin shops. The average is about $1-2 cheaper.
Another aspect that has contributed to SwitchBox’s success is its “coffee shop vibe”. Energy exudes from each and every conversation flowing throughout the building. And with floor-to-ceiling windows and perfectly mismatched furniture, its atmosphere promotes new ideas and encourages innovation.
From the remote worker sipping up coffee during the day and beer around 5 p.m. to moms catching up while their kids play with the available toys, SwitchBox is a place where any and everyone is welcome.
Not only does SwitchBox value families, they also value encouraging local companies – a quality that makes me love them most. For example, their mocha lattes are made with specialty chocolate from Cao Chocolate, a local chocolatier down in Miami. Their delicious baked goods are all made with love from Zak the Baker, Tartastic and Anna’s Italian Biscotti. And their loose leaf teas are from Jojo Tea.
So, whether you meet up with friends or show up for a personal study session, SwitchBox is definitely worth the drive down I-95.
