Recipe: Turmeric Mylk aka Golden Mylk

We all need to spice up our lives every once in awhile. For us early risers – reluctant ones, too – that means switching it up when it comes to our morning cup of coffee. Wake up to something a little healthier and try turmeric mylk.

As an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, turmeric is packed with several benefits that are sure to keep you on your feet and healthy. At the same time, it makes for a flavorful latte that’s a mix of sweet and spicy. Just be careful when drinking because it will stain clothes and leave your lips a not-so-fabulous yellow!

Ingredients & Supplies

1 ½ C non-dairy milk

½ Tbsp coconut oil

1 tsp turmeric

½ tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ginger

¼ tsp black pepper

  1. Heat your stove on medium-high heat.
  2. Combine all of your ingredients in a small saucepan and give it a quick whisk.

We swapped out ginger for a blend of spices, including ginger, nutmeg and cloves. We also used almond milk as our dairy substitute.

  1. Place your pot on the stove and bring it to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally. Once it begins to really steam, whisk quickly. This is when you can froth it, for a latte-style drink.
  2. Pour into a mug and add honey or agave to taste.
