Trends we loved at Delray Beach Fashion Week’s opening night

We tune into the runways of London, Milan and New York with excitement every season for style inspiration and to relish over the impressive designs of some of the fashion industry’s biggest names. But on Wednesday, Delray Beach Fashion Week’s opening hair and evening wear show turned big city vibes into major local love.

Boutiques and designers from the area literally stopped traffic (part of Atlantic Avenue was shut down just for this) with their fun and unique ensembles. See some of the biggest trends that every South Florida girl should try:

Dresses, blouses, shoes and bags – tassels and fringe seemed to be the perfect additions to any item. Made of leather, feathers and more, both elements add a pop of fun that can be made to fit any look.

Beach Chic

Being as we live in SoFla, it’s no surprise that we saw some boho and beachy looks. Lots of flowing, light material made it’s way down the stage alongside cool patterns that can easily be transitioned from a day on the beach to a night on the Ave.

Laced Heels

Lacing up your shoes has taken on a whole new meaning. Tie your heels up to create a trellis-esque design, or wrap the long laces around your ankle for a more edgy look. Just be sure to take a seat when it’s time to unravel them!

High Slits

When the weather gets hot, many of us are dying to feel a breeze – not so much in these dresses. Dramatic slits in a very Kendall Jenner manner were shown, and may just be a fun way to give any formal a high-fashion flair.

Don’t worry, Goldilocks, there’s a dress that’s not too short or too long for you! Midi dresses are classic, but never really get the love they deserve. Paired with sleek stilettos, a mid-length dress can be styled for any occasion.

Earthy Tones

Put your Lilly down for a sec. Earthy neutrals are having a moment. Soft pinks, warm creams and muted stones graced the runway, offering a subtle-yet-chic style that is oftentimes lost in South Florida ostentatiousness.

Chokers are the ultimate accessories trend this season, and there was no shortage of them throughout the show. From dainty to statement, a choker can give a little bit of edge to any look, day or night.
