What to wear on the first date

Whether blind, long-awaited or starting fresh, a first date can be nerve-wracking. You don’t want to look like you’re trying too hard, but you do want to look nice and sexy – but not too sexy – cute and sweet, but not too innocent. As you see, it’s tricky.

Plus, finding a balance can be difficult when you add on the pressure of finding Mr. Right. These are easy, most-likely-already-in-your-closet pieces to wear on your first date:

Jeans & Heels

Keeping it simple is always a good idea. Most people have a favorite pair of jeans that can easily be paired with a V-neck, jacket and a pair of wedges. Or, for more of an upscale look, opt for a boyfriend cut and signature stiletto.

First dates should be fun! Sundresses can easily be dressed up with a structured jacket or down with an oversized cardigan, depending on where the date leads. You can even skip the heels or wedges and go with sneakers or flats for a more laidback look.

Favorite Color

Feeling confident should be one of your top priorities when picking an outfit, especially for a first date. Wearing a color that you love will add a little boost of confidence to your night. If you don’t have a favorite color, pick one that people compliment you on a lot. As a rule of thumb, every skin tone looks great in a black, red and royal blue.

Comfort First

If none of the above sounds comfortable to you, forget everything you just read. Be yourself. Discomfort will most likely present itself during the course of the date, and you don’t want to add any more to what is most likely already a semi-awkward situation.
