5 drugstore products you must add to your dry skin routine

We all know that drugstores are filled with hidden gems that are oftentimes even better than their high-end counterparts. That includes products for us dry skin girls too.

As a strict drugstore beauty girl, I’ve tried my fair share of hydrating products throughout the years. Here are some that have made it to my holy grail status:

Bliss Rice Scrub

Us dry girls know the benefits of a good scrub. Unlike many shower scrubs where you use them while in the shower, this one you simply apply before hopping in then wash off. I prefer this method as I’m not a fan of fighting with water washing it off before I’ve adequately scrubbed.

It is a little pricey for the drugstore, but it’s a pretty big container and will last you awhile. One tub usually lasts me a four to six months depending on the season.

Micellar Water

Micellar water is one of those one-size-fits-all products, which is uncommon in the world of skin care. So, whether you’re dry or oily, it’s worth a try. One of my favorite features is that it doesn’t leave my skin begging for moisture if I decide to have a lazy night and just clean my face with that.

Burt’s Bees Facial Oil Cleanser

For those days that I have enough energy to take off my makeup in the shower, this facial oil cleanser is my go-to. Although it may feel weird to rub oil on your face at first, it’s my favorite way to cleanse while giving it back some hydration.

Though I tend to stick with non-waterproof makeup, the methodology for this cleanser — applying it on your dry skin and then slowly introducing water — allows you to use as much oil as needed. This helps make it super gentle on my lashes since I massage it onto my face instead of rubbing.

Burt’s Bees Lotion

I have been obsessed with this lotion for over a year and still have yet to find another that even comes close. Thicker than your average lotion, this one takes some muscle to rub into the skin, but it pays off. There is a slight scent, but I don’t find it overpowering and it fades quickly.

As a sufferer of eczema, I own several tubes of these so I can scatter them through my life, never having to sit with dry skin. There is also no unwanted ingredients, and my skin can tell! Burt’s Bees offers many different versions, but I prefer the Ultimate Care Body Lotion with baobab oil.

L’Oreal Revitalift

Yes, this product is marketed to more mature skin types, but you shouldn’t have to wait until you’re older to take advantage of this great moisturizer. If you have long days, there’s nothing worse than your face getting crusty half way through. So, you might want to consider using a “mature” moisturizing, or even an overnight, mask under your makeup.

This one is great for night or day and blends in smoothly while keeping you hydrated for hours. You can even mix it with your favorite foundation for the ultimate, personalized BB cream. It doesn’t feel oily on the skin, but I wouldn’t wear it during the day if you prefer something that absorbs completely. And, if you do wear it during the day make sure to apply some sunscreen as there is no SPF.
